The following is a statement from the Buxton Police Department regarding the robbery of Low’s Variety in Bar Mills.

On Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 5:29 pm, Low’s Variety located at 115 Main St. Bar Mills, was the victim of an armed robbery.

The suspect is seen on store surveillance cameras approaching the store from the west (Salmon Falls side of the building) and crossing through the parking lot. He goes to the east side of the building, dons a black full-face ski mask, and enters the store at 05:29:08 PM. Once in the store, the suspect aggressively approaches the front-end employee while displaying what appears to be a handgun wrapped in a plastic bag. The suspect places a black and red backpack on the counter, demanding cash while banging on a Plexiglas partition with the handgun and pointing it at the clerk.

The suspect flees the store at 05:29:38 PM. and is last seen on foot running back towards the Salmon Falls area.

After a thorough search of the area with assistance from the Maine State Police and an Old Orchard Beach K-9 unit, police were unable to locate the suspect. Officers did recover a black ski-mask and a realistic-looking Airsoft gun that is believed to have been used during the robbery in some bushes off Main St.

The suspect is described as a possible white male, slender build, with no other description available.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was dressed in a black sweatshirt, black gloves, black full-face mask, olive green pants, and brown hiking shoes.
