The members of the North Congregational Church in Groveville, Buxton, Maine are pleased to welcome their new pastor to the congregation. Reverend Cathy Genthner of Gorham is the new settled pastor at the church and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry from Bangor Theological Seminary.
Dr. Genthner works as a hospice chaplain for Compassus Hospice in Scarborough, Maine, is a Registered Maine Guide, works as a freelance writer for the Maine Sportsman, Maine Seniors and the Maine Sunday Telegram, and owns River Bluff Camps in Medford, Maine.
Genthner has previously served the church communities at the First Baptist Church in Westbrook, the Sebago Center Community Church, and the Second Congregational Church in Biddeford.
Genthner shares each week’s sermon not only with her congregation, but with the world through social media. “The sermon each week is written and preached with one goal in mind – What do people need to get them through the week? Life is uncertain and difficult. You don’t know what you, your friends and neighbors will be facing on a daily basis.”
Morning worship starts at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings with plans being developed for a Wednesday night Contemporary Service featuring praise music performed by Genthner’s son, pianist Forrest Genthner, a senior at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.
