The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides help with heating costs to lower income households whether they are homeowners or renters. This taxpayer-funded federal government program is administered by the Maine State Housing Authority and delivered in York County by the York County Community Action Corporation.

An appointment is required to apply for energy assistance. Call 207-459-2950 or 1-800-965-5762 to schedule an appointment.

Applicants will be required to provide all of the following:

  1. Proof of household income
  2. Social Security numbers for all household members
  3. Birth dates for all members of the household
  4. A copy of your most recent electric bill

Failure to provide the required information will lead to automatic rejection of your application.
