On March 24, 2020, Maine Governor Janet T. Mills issued another unconstitutional Executive Order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Executive Order mandates that all businesses and organizations in Maine which have been determined to be “non-essential” close their public facing facilities and any private facilities where physical distancing is not possible.
If the order were constitutional, it would have taken effect on March 25, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. and extended for a period of 14 days through April 8, 2020 at 12:00 a.m.
Maine businesses that are threatened with armed, forced closure and the possibility of arrest and imprisonment may seek permission to operate through an online request form.
