Gino Bruzzese, 78, of Buxton, Maine, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine, surrounded by his loving family.

Gino was born in Calabria, Italy, September 8, 1940, the son of Maria Pelagio-Bruzzese and Salvatore Bruzzese. He immigrated with his family to the U.S. through the portal of Ellis Island, NY, in 1953 at the age of 13. The family settled in the Italian community in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts. Gino resided in Massachusetts for 35 years.

In 1988, he moved to Portland, Maine, to be with the love of his life, Ellie. They married in 1994. In 1991, Gino and Ellie moved to Buxton, Maine, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

In his teens, Gino developed a skill for fixing cars. He loved working on and collecting cars. It was that passion that gave him the opportunity to become the owner of multiple auto repair, tire, towing and gasoline stations in New England for more than 50 years. For the past 28 years, Gino, with Ellie by his side, was the proud owner of Ocean Street Auto in South Portland, Maine. Gino often reflected on his many loyal customers that he met over the years.

In his spare time, Gino enjoyed working on his lawn with his Kubota tractor, tending to his vegetable gardens and tinkering in the garage with his many “toys”. If Gino didn’t have it, you didn’t need it! Gino also had a passion for guns. He was an avid collector. His extensive collection was admired by many. Gino treasured his boat, the “Ellie Mae”. He enjoyed watching biblical and action movies and the Patriots on his large screen TV.

Gino is predeceased by his father, Salvatore; his son, Gino Jr., and a brother, Vincenzo.
