Job Opening for Position of Part Time Dispatcher

The Town of Buxton has an immediate opening for a highly motivated; community-oriented part time Dispatcher. We are seeking applicants to work on a per-diem basis on all shifts, hours will be flexible.

Qualified candidates must be 18 years of age, Associate Degree in Communications, Criminal Justice, Computer Science or related field, or a combination of relevant training and experience is desirable. Preference is given to graduates of the Terminal Operator’s Certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) courses through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA).

Candidates must have no criminal or adverse traffic record and will be required to pass a polygraph, medical, psychological tests and an extensive background check.

The Town of Buxton has a year-round population of approximately 8,034 and has been identified as a “bedroom community” for the greater Portland area. The Buxton Police Department provides 24-hour coverage, 7 days a week and is actively engaged in the community. We are a small, energetic, community-oriented police department focused on professionalism and “esprit de corps”.
